It's Black History Month!

Today, February 1st marks the first day of Black History Month. This is the time of year that we reflect on the accomplishments that African-Americans have made to the world. As an African American woman, I do this on an annual basis. I attended a predominately African American Catholic School which was taught by Caucasian nuns. Our daily curriculum consisted of Black History. We even said two separate pledge of allegiances- one to the Flag of the United States and the other to African American flag. I encourage all cultures to learn about their history as well as those of others on a daily basis, not just on a designated month. But during this month, make sure that you attend some of your community's Black History Month events and porograms. I'm sure that you will be enlightened
